We’ll be welcoming renowned Brazilian graphic designer, filmmaker and inductee of Design Week’s Hall of Fame Marina Willer who will be delivering a talk about the importance of human insight and experimentation in the time of AI – and how she uses “unusual” processes to create work that is original. The illustrator, writer and teacher Lizzy Stewart will also take to the stage, to share insights from her latest book The Wreck, a genre-defying illustrated novel. Also joining us is the fascinating multi-format artist Intra who’ll be delivering a talk about the urgency to “become” and being an artist during the internet age. Last but not least, we’ll be hearing from multi-hyphenate creative Ollie Babajide Tikare, who’ll be giving us peek into his new book Èkó, a humanising photographic portrait of Lagos.

At April’s London event, we’ll be welcoming renowned Brazilian graphic designer, filmmaker, Pentagram partner and D&AD jury judge Marina Willer. Having led design on major brand identity projects for clients such as Rolls Royce, Tate and Southbank Centre, Marina has also directed feature films, including Red Trees, which premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The inductee of Design Week’s Hall of Fame will be delivering a talk about the importance of human insight and experimentation in the time of AI – and how she uses “unusual” processes to create work that is original.

Lizzy Stewart is an illustrator, writer and teacher whose picture book There’s a Tiger in the Garden won the Waterstone Children’s Book Prize and World Illustration Award in 2017 and whose first 2023 graphic novel, Alison, received much critical acclaim. The illustrator will be giving a talk about her stunning new illustrated novel The Wreck, a genre-defying 320-page work which explores the story of communal living in an English utopia that’s beginning to unravel.

Multi-format artist intra has cultivated a strong YouTube following through her digital visuals for Nothing and collaborations with Nia Archives and Brighter Days Family, as well as through appearances on Camille Munn’s Rinse show. Intra has created her own aesthetic: 3Dx, a combination of 3D creative processes merged with anything that can fall under ‘x’, in the algebraic sense! Intra will deliver a talk about the urgency to “become”, the difficulties of being an artist during the internet age and the tricky process of finding one’s voice through a chosen medium.

Ollie Babajide Tikare works across photography, writing, music curation, DJing and radio touches topics from socio-political essays to music and fashion, challenging stereotypes whilst celebrating the diversity of African diaspora. Ollie has been behind the visions behind brands such as Reebok, Dr Martens, Nike and Dickies and has created photoessays that explore British multiculturalism. Ollie will be discussing his new book Èkó which is a humanising portrait of Lagos, capturing every day human moments as well as documenting the chaos, the calm and visceral sense of life in the Nigerian city.
