Lucky for us, this month’s Nicer Tuesdays is here to offer a bit post-summer relief in the form of four fabulous creative talks. Taking place on Tuesday 29 September at 6 pm BST on ouronline events platform, this month’s stellar creative assemble will be dialling in from around the world to talk to us about their respective practices. Here they are! It’s design practice Studio Yukiko, illustrator Karabo Poppy, photographer Joshua Kissi and Eddie Opara.

Eddie Opara

A multi-faceted designer, teacher and Pentagram New York partner,Eddie’simpressive host of projects encompass strategy, design and technology. With clients such as Cooper Hewitt, the Smithsonian Design Museum, Studio Museum, Santander, Morgan Stanley and the St. Regis Hotels under his belt, the UK-born designer has also been recognised with numerous accolades from the likes of Tokyo Type Directors Club, AIGA, D&AD and the Art Directors Club. He is also a senior critic at the Yale University School of Art and has previously taught in several other American institutions.

Joshua Kissi

A Ghanaian-American photographer, creative entrepreneur and director,Joshua Kissiis a creative polymath working across a variety of projects and mediums. As well as working on photography projects – which include a series on the relationship between basketball and the African diaspora and the documentation of an African American high school marching band in New Orleans – Joshua is also co-founder of See In Black; a newly formed collective of 80 Black photographers.

Karabo Poppy Moletsane

The acclaimed Johannesburg-based illustrator has worked for world-renowned brands from the likes of Google, Nike and Netflix. Permeating her works with a stark, graphic aesthetic,Karabo’swork aims to rebalance African representation in the media and the contemporary design sphere. Having drawn inspiration from her everyday surroundings in South Africa, Karabo’s wonderfully energetic illustrations combine tradition with the cutting edge.

Studio Yukiko

No stranger to It’s Nice That, we can’t get enough of this Berlin-based design studio founded byMichelle Phillips and Johannes Conrad. You may know the studio for its colourful designs for the likes ofFlaneur Magazine,Sofa, Nike, Sony, and Weiden + Kennedy, just to name a few. Founded in 2012, we first met Michelle and Johannes back in 2018 when they featured as one of our Ones to Watch. Now, we can’t wait to hear what they’ve been up to.
