Describing his work as a “dance between colour fashion and art”,Ibbyis a London-based, Cameroon-born set designer who has gone from strength to strength – and his distinctive style and colourful palettes can be thanked for that. Solidifying his style as a merging of art and fashion, his psychedelic and utterly addictive tones can be found in the pages of numerous publications includingVogue Hommes, Vogue Franceand many others. During his talk, Ibby will uncover the process behind his decorative designs; he will also give us the details behind a couple of other key projects, including a recent shoot for the Harry Styles issue ofDazed, shot by friend and collaborator Rafael Pavarotti.
Krisis known for his unique blending of styles – the type of work that treads the line between graphic design and illustration. From textural pieces to photo collages, scribbly illustrations and bold graphics, the designer has developed a seamless aesthetic that’s led to commissions for Nike, Reekbok Classics,Wonderland Magazine, Crack Magazineand Adobe among others. Kris often takes societal issues and transfers them into his abstract and distinctively loud visuals, which is something that we’ll be hearing more about in at March’s Nicer Tuesdays. We’ll also learn about his process and the projects he’s been tucking away at recently.
Not only are London-based duoFa and FonWatkins twins, they’re also a creative force to be reckoned with. Born in Thailand, the pair moved to the UK aged seven and have since dedicated their practice to building unique worlds for the likes of Converse, Nike, Fila and more. What stands out the most is their overlapping of mediums – where photography meets 3D – and their penchant for creating immersive narratives. All of which are inspired by futurism, pop culture and their Asian heritage. At this month’s Nicer Tuesdays, the duo will dissect their multi-faceted practice for us, and give us the low down on their inspirations and why they never stick to the rules of conventional design.
Since 2014,Polyester Zinehas grown from cult to movement, placing feminism, identity and culture at the core of everything – this includes its commissions, editorials and even the bi-weekly Polyester Podcast. Founded byIone, the London-based editor and writer oversees all content under the zine’s print and online output. To date, the bi-annual zine has seen contributions from Polly Nor, Tavi Gevinson, Courtney Love, Edward Meadham and Pussy Riot. Giving us a behind-the-scenes tour, we’ll be learning more about the making ofPolyesterat this month’s Nicer Tuesdays, why she goes against traditional publishing, plus the type of work she hopes to make in the future.
